Sleep Mode
Sleep Mode – How Your Tracker Will Behave
Sleep Mode is designed to significantly reduce battery drain when the vehicle is not being used.
The tracker is still working and protecting your vehicle — it just changes how often it communicates.
Normal mode (sleep OFF)
In normal operation the tracker maintains a frequent data connection and continuously updates its GPS satellite position.
This allows near-live tracking at all times, but it uses more power from the vehicle battery.
Sleep mode (sleep ON)
When Sleep Mode is enabled, the tracker automatically enters a low-power state after the vehicle has been stationary for approximately 5 minutes.
While asleep:
• The tracker will show Offline in the app/website
• It is still monitoring for movement
• Power consumption is greatly reduced
Offline does not mean the tracker has stopped working — it means it is conserving battery and waiting for activity.
What happens when the vehicle moves?
As soon as the tracker detects:
-
Vehicle movement, or
-
Ignition power (if the IGN wire is connected)
it immediately wakes up and begins tracking again.
Because the tracker has been asleep, it must reconnect to GPS satellites.
During the first 1–3 minutes after movement you may notice:
• Position updates appearing slightly delayed
• The first few points looking “jumpy” on the map
This is completely normal and only happens just after wake-up.
After it has re-locked onto satellites, tracking returns to normal accuracy.
Periodic check-ins
Even while stationary and asleep, the tracker automatically wakes approximately once per hour to report its location.
This allows you to confirm the vehicle is still where it was parked.
Why use Sleep Mode?
Sleep Mode is recommended if:
• The vehicle is not driven daily
• It is stored (classic cars, weekend cars, caravans, motorcycles)
• You want to minimise battery usage
When NOT to use Sleep Mode
You may prefer sleep OFF if:
• The vehicle is used frequently every day
• You want constant live tracking without any wake-up delay
• The tracker is powered from a large vehicle battery that is regularly charged
Important reassurance
Sleep Mode does not disable theft protection.
If the vehicle moves, the tracker wakes automatically and tracking resumes.
