Three Computer Science graduates from Exeter University first crossed paths during a military fast-track programme, contributing to advanced maritime communications and wireless relay technologies.

While much of that work remains classified, over the following five years the team played a role in the early development of what would become Europe’s satellite navigation system — GIOVE-A, the forerunner to Galileo.

At a time when consumer navigation was still in its infancy, they had already recognised the direction the world was heading — and set out to shape its future.

South East Asia

A deployment to South East Asia marked the next chapter for the three founding members, where they began working on communication protocols for the early stages of China’s satellite constellation — BeiDou-2.

It quickly became clear that Chinese technology companies would be at the forefront of future navigation systems. However, at the time, many of China’s industrial powerhouses were still recovering from the aftermath of the Asian financial crisis.

This experience gave the team early insight into the global shift in navigation technology — and laid the groundwork for the innovation-driven approach that defines RX Tracking today.

Prototype GPS Tracker

During their early R&D efforts, the team began experimenting with one of the first commercially available mass-produced GPS trackers (model redacted due to a non-disclosure agreement).

Through reverse engineering and security testing, they identified three critical day-zero vulnerabilities. Upon responsibly disclosing their findings to the manufacturer, they received a finder’s reward — which provided the seed capital for what would later become the trio’s first GPS tracking platform.

It was a pivotal moment — one that marked the transition from experimentation to innovation.

New Beginnings

After 8 years providing professional tracking services – overseing installation, training and platform administration the trio were apporached by a now well known Saas company to purchase the rights to all assets.

This was a huge decision for the founding partnership and after months of back and forth negotiating it was decided that one of the founders would leave, with 2 remaining.

As part of teh sale it was agreed the pair would leave the commercial fleet management Saas industry

The iStartek / RX Tracking Partnership
After an 18-month trial period, RX Tracking and iStartek formally cemented their partnership with the launch of — iTrackCare — marking a new chapter in their longstanding collaboration.
